The Commonwealth Foundation is an intergovernmental organisation, resourced by and reporting to Commonwealth governments, and guided by Commonwealth values and priorities. Its mandate is to strengthen civil society in the achievement of Commonwealth priorities: democracy and good governance, respect for human rights and gender equality, poverty eradication, people-centred and sustainable development, and to provide humanitarian goal-oriented stability and sustainability.
In 2018 third quarter of the year, The United Nations in collaboration with The British Commonwealth determined to aggressively combat the level of poverty and economic instability with their innovative proclamation of the 2018/2019 Paid Volunteer Programs and Scholarships which will cut across all nations.
UN-Commonwealth Paid Volunteer are between 18 and 45 years old, and work with UN and Commonwealth agencies on the front lines of political, developmental and humanitarian operations.
UN-Commonwealth Paid Scholars are students sponsored by The Un-Commonwealth Programs for their undergraduate and postgraduate studies abroad in selected Universities. Check eligibility here.
Who are UN-Commonwealth Volunteers?
UN-Commonwealth Volunteers are a separate category of UN Volunteers and Commonwealth volunteers from Commonwealth Foundation recently created in response to the United Nations Secretary-General’s call for greater engagement in volunteerism of history’s largest generation of people and poverty eradication.
UN-Commonwealth Volunteers receive a basic monthly living allowance that allows the volunteer to live healthily and safely in the assigned area(s).
UN-Commonwealth Scholars receive full tuition scholarships plus living allowances.
Basic health allowance and opportunity to travel outside your home country.
If you volunteer outside of your home area, return airfare or land transport (as applicable) and some other basic costs are paid by the host agency.
You will receive orientation and training before and after your assignment.

Eligibility to apply for UN-Commonwealth Volunteer.
The UN-Commonwealth Volunteer program is looking for motivated and talented youth between the ages of 18 and 45. (Note: you must be younger than 45 throughout the duration of your service). The educational background and experience required varies by assignment, but generally both graduates and non-graduates are eligible to apply.
Eligibility to apply for UN-Commonwealth Scholar.
To apply for these scholarships, you must:
Be permanently resident in an eligible commonwealth country and/or Africa.
Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible commonwealth country or be a British Protected Person.
Hold a secondary degree or first degree in any commonwealth country or Africa.
Be unable to afford to study your chosen course without this scholarship.
