To be eligible for Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS), you must be a citizen of a SISS-eligible country, and have sufficient documented proof of work and leadership experience. You must also follow the application steps of university admission, and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programmes on time.
The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS) aims at diversity and gender equality among scholarship holders. We welcome applicants regardless of age or religious beliefs.
Country of citizenship
Applicants from about 140 countries are eligible for SISS (see below to view countries)
648 master’s programmes taught in English starting in 2018 are eligible for SISS.
To be eligible for SISS, you must have had at least 3,000 hours’ work experience (not required for students from South Africa). You will be required to certify the experience. If you do not already have the required amount of work experience, your application will be deemed ineligible. However, it is not required that you are employed at the time of the application.
You must be able to demonstrate your previous leadership experience (not required for students from South Africa). The experience may be demonstrated through previous work experience, through position as chairman or board member at student unions or student organisations, through involvement in civil society organisations, or volunteer assignments after high school studies.
